Perfection Autosport teams with
Chrysler Corp and MOPAR Performance for release of 2008 Dodge
Challenger
October 11, 2007 Grafton, WI - Perfection Autosport, builders
of the national award winning 1970 Challenger “INSIDIOUS”,
have teamed with the Chrysler Corporation and MOPAR
Performance Parts, to assist with the launch of the new 2008
Dodge Challenger. MOPAR Performance executives, along with
colleagues from Chrysler, chose INSIDIOUS to highlight a
display of vintage Challengers for the Chrysler dealership
launch held at the Imperial Palace Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada
this week. The vintage Challenger display will provide the
backdrop for the release of Chrysler’s new 2008 Dodge
Challenger, which has taken many of its styling cues from the
early original model.
According to Jon Clark, head of MOPAR Performance Parts,
“INSIDIOUS is a great example of the creativity that can be
applied to the Challenger and we hope to show how popular and
long lasting the impression of the original Challenger has
been and its importance to our automotive history”. The
original Challenger’s impact on the car market of the early
70’s was a key factor in the design and styling of the new
Challenger.
Following the Chrysler dealership launch, INSIDIOUS will
appear with Chrysler Corp and MOPAR Performance once again at
the annual SEMA show in Las Vegas, Nevada, October 30th
through November 2nd. INSIDIOUS will be prominently displayed
in MOPAR Alley, along with other significant Challengers from
the dealership launch. MOPAR Alley is located between the two
main convention center buildings and will be the primary
throughway for all the attendees to move from venue to venue.
With attendees from all around the world, SEMA is the world’s
largest automotive aftermarket event and trade show. |

official invitation to bring the custom designed Challenger to
the Pro’s Pick area early Saturday morning to go head-to-head
against 250 of the most spectacular street rods in the

Perfection Autosport to debut “INSIDIOUS” - 1970 Dodge
Challenger G- Machine at Good Guys PPG Nationals in Columbus,
OH.
Perfection Autosport, creators of the Dodge Charger R/Te, the
world’s first E-body Charger, is set to debut their second
creation dubbed “INSIDIOUS” at the Good Guys PPG Nationals in
Columbus, Ohio July 13th through 15th.
INSIDIOUS is a 1970 Dodge Challenger built in the popular
G-Machine style featuring a unique new design by Dave
Salvaggio. Staying true to his drastic subtlety approach,
INSIDIOUS has smooth flowing lines reminiscent of the original
Dodge Challenger. Utilizing an aggressive ride height, one
piece front fascia, a completely smoothed body shell and flush
fit glass, Salvaggio’s design combines elements of heritage
and technology to achieve a distinctive modern look.
Underneath its custom designed hood lies the heart of
INSIDIOUS – a 426 Street Hemi sporting electronically
controlled fuel injection. The hemi churns out over 525
horsepower that is transferred to forward motion by a Tremec
five speed transmission. INSIDIOUS rides on a Perfection
Autosport engineered front and rear independent suspension
system with fully adjustable coil over shocks at all four
corners. Wilwood four piston calipers squeeze the 13” rotors
up front and the inboard mounted 10.5” rotors in the rear.
The Salvaggio designed interior is an unequalled combination
of form and functionality. Modern digital gauges reside in a
dashboard covered with imported British leather. The Dodge
Challenger interior rivals that of the finest sports cars on
the planet with color matched seat inserts in the high-backed
buckets and a high-end audio video system featuring GPS
satellite navigation. |

Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour
When
Perfection Autosport says “Don’t Just Dream It, Drive It”, they’re
not just talking, it’s their commitment! Perfection Autosport
proved their commitment last week by completing the 2007 HOT ROD
Magazine Power Tour. Driving their recently completed 1968 Charger
R/Te, Perfection Autosport checked in at all seven cities over the
seven day tour and logged over 1500 miles on their custom-built
ride. According to Jimi Day at Perfection Autosport, “It’s our
goal to bring together leading edge design and absolute
functionality. We build our cars to be reliable and driven under
any street condition and we couldn’t think of a better way to
demonstrate that than driving the entire length of the HOT ROD
Power Tour.”
Perfection Autosport’s 1968 Charger R/Te is the world’s first E
Body Charger. Sporting a body that is a full 20” shorter than
stock, a 3” roof chop and an aggressive windshield angle, the R/Te
was one of the most notable and most photographed vehicles on the
tour. The fuel injected 625 HP 472 cubic inch stroker hemi
provided plenty of motivation and the fully independent suspension
offered a stable and comfortable ride. With help from our sponsors
OPTIMA Batteries and Dunlop tires, the Charger performed
flawlessly throughout tour, enduring torrential rain from
Cleveland to Racine and then surviving the torturous heat and
humidity of the lower Midwest and Southern regions. Throughout the
tour the Charger proved over and over its durability – first
through the pouring rain, again on the drag strip at Great Lakes
Dragway and finally through the searing temperatures of the south
sitting in construction zone traffic delays.
The Charger R/Te received rave reviews on the tour. Legendary drag
racer Herb McCandless, driver for the famed Sox & Martin drag race
team, commented on the high quality of the fit and finish. After
driving the Charger, he gave a two-thumbs-up on the drivability
and the comfortable layout of the interior. MOPAR Collector’s
Guide editor Rob Wolf completed a photo shoot of the R/Te and will
feature it in the upcoming Power Tour issue. Cherry Bomb, famous
for “Disturbing the Peace” since 1968, did a studio shoot of the
Charger as a feature car for their upcoming 2008 calendar. |
